How to Check If an IP Is Blacklisted and Get Delisted

A practical workflow for DNSBL checks, root-cause analysis, and responsible delisting requests.

A safe verification workflow

1. Identify the outbound mail server's public IP from SMTP logs.
2. Check that IP with IP Blacklist and record the time and specific DNSBL.
3. Confirm the listing with the blocklist operator: aggregators may show stale answers.
4. Fix compromise, open relay, or unsolicited sending before requesting delisting.

Reviewing PTR, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC helps restore deliverability but does not override a blocklist's own policy.
